Zen Meditation
I am a practitioner and teacher of Chinese Zen meditation (Chan). I have been practising Zen meditation in various forms since I was a medical student. The 'autobiography' of my involvement is published in the book Chan Comes West.
In 2000 I received Dharma Transmission from Chan Master Sheng-yen and hence I am a fully authorised teacher in the lineages of Linji (Rinzai) and Caodong (Soto) Chan Buddhism.
I lead residential zen retreats for the Western Chan Fellowship and also at Gaia House and some other venues in Europe and USA. I lead a Chan meditation group in Manchester and also occasionally visit other groups for teaching.
I am a founder member of the Western Chan Fellowship, and have been the secretary of the charity since it was founded in 1997.
If you want to find out more then please see the Newcomers Information page on the website of the Western Chan Fellowship. This will give you introductory reading, details of the retreat programme and locations of local groups, online teachings, retreat reports written by participants of past zen retreats (recommended, to give you an insight into the experience of attending a zen retreat), and lots more.
